Basically, every single Age of Empires game can be played with just the mouse (I can't speak for AoE4 as I haven't played it yet). I played it with competency at the age of 5, with naught but a mouse. It's a lot of fun, and the cutscenes hold up well for being entirely in-engine. It's strong against everything, but only one can be made per player per match, and only after the 4th age, and a Wonder-length build time. The first DLC adds a one-off super-unit called a Titan. This can vary from an AOE heal to an earthquake, and their potential gradually increases with the associated Age. There's a series of single-use/ limited number multi-use "god powers" that each player unlocks as they age up through the game. No 2 factions share the same unit or building set, although there are a few that bridge the gap such as the armory and the barracks (with a name change occasionally). It plays quite similarly to aoe2, but with a lot more asymmetry between the factions.
